At the Intersection of Community, Collaboration, and Financial Literacy
Earlier this month, Winning Ways Inc. had the honor of partnering with Hang Time Waterbury to deliver two transformative sessions of financial literacy programming aimed at empowering individuals impacted by incarceration, trauma, and systemic barriers.
Led by lived-experience facilitators from our Winning Circle Series™, these sessions went beyond budgeting tips — they offered a safe, affirming space for open conversation, healing, and real-world financial strategies.
With the support of ACT CT and M&T Bank, we were able to go one step further: helping attendees open affordable, accessible checking accounts — a critical first step toward financial stability and inclusion. For many participants, this marked their first opportunity to engage with mainstream banking in a way that was respectful, judgment-free, and grounded in trust.
Charlie Grady, CEO & Founder of Hang Time, put it best: “When people are given tools, trust, and access, change becomes possible. Winning Ways brought all of that to the table.”
We are deeply grateful to Hang Time Waterbury for welcoming us into their space, and to ACT CT and M&T Bank for walking alongside us in this mission. Together, we’re not just teaching financial literacy — we’re building pathways to economic justice.
